Udani is the Founding Lawyer of Perera Legal Group, a boutique law firm located in Toronto and Calgary. She was called to the bar in Ontario and Alberta in 2019. Udani holds a Juris Doctor Degree from the Faculty of Law of Queen’s University and an Honors Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law and Society from York University in Toronto, Ontario. Udani practices in the area of litigation with a focus on immigration and family law matters.
Udani’s immigration and refugee law practice includes detentions, removals, authorizations to return, cessation applications, residency appeals, PRRAs, inadmissibility matters, judicial reviews, stay motions and appealing negative decisions to administrative tribunals as well as to the Federal Court of Canada. Udani also handles a variety of temporary and permanent residence matters arising from within and outside of Canada.
Udani is an experienced litigator and has conducted week-long trials, viva voce hearings, and appeals in the Court of King’s Bench, the Provincial Court of Alberta, Superior Court of Justice in Ontario, Ontario Court of Justice, as well as the Federal Court of Canada.
Udani is a volunteer lawyer for Calgary Legal Guidance since 2020 and was recognized with a distinguished service award in 2023. She is one of the Founding Members of the Canadian Immigration Lawyers Association (CILA). She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association branch in Alberta as well as a member of the Association of Women Lawyers.
Udani is passionate about advocating for animal rights. She serves on the Board of Directors for Parachutes for Pets. She is also a Co-founder and a Director of Pawsitive Lives Not-for-profit Corporation, a safe haven for stray and street dogs in northern Sri Lanka.
