With international legal experience spanning 15 years and multiple countries, Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law (GDipICL) adjunct professor Muhammad Wajahat Faizan was recently awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in March of this year. The award, conferred by Mississauga MP Rechie Valdez, recognizes Wajahat Faizan’s contributions to immigration law and community service.

“I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach at Queen’s Faculty of Law in the GDipICL program”, Wajahat Faizan says. “Beyond my practice as a consultant and lawyer, it has been incredibly rewarding to directly educate and mentor aspiring immigration professionals through this program since its inception, helping to build the next generation of leaders in the field.”

The Coronation Medal program "recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to a particular province, territory, region or community in Canada, or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to our country.”

Wajahat Faizan was previously awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Award in 2022. His work with the GDipICL includes courses on ethics and professional responsibility, practice management, and citizenship, complementing his current role as an Associate Lawyer at Kormans LLP.   Scholarly contributions by Wajahat Faizan include publications on Islamic wills, Sharia-compliant financing, and property law.
