Co-recipients of the Teaching Excellence Award for the Winter 2025 term - Shalini Konanur and John Norquay

Selected from 16 teachers nominated for the award, Konanur is an instructor in Ethics and Professional Responsibility. Praised for his knowledge of refugee law and willingness to share practical experiences from his work at Legal Aid Ontario, John Norquay is the co-recipientof the Teaching Excellence Award from the Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law for the Winter 2025 term.

GDipICL instructor awarded Coronation Medal

With international legal experience spanning 15 years and multiple countries, Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law (GDipICL) adjunct professor Muhammad Wajahat Faizan was recently awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in March of this year. The award, conferred by Mississauga MP Rechie Valdez, recognizes Wajahat Faizan’s contributions to immigration law and community service.  

GDipICL instructor awarded national honour

Instructors in the Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law (GDipICL) are frequently also dynamic members of their community. Among her many achievements, Rochelle Ivri – one of only eight Citizenship Judges in Canada, and an adjunct GDipICL professor who teaches Citizenship, as well as Ethics and Responsibility – was awarded a LEADHER award on March 8. The award “honours and celebrates the extraordinary achievements of women (and allies) who are breaking barriers, shattering stereotypes, and making a profound impact in their respective fields.”
