Michael Hamelin is a retired Member of the Refugee Protection Division (RPD) of the Immigration and Refugee Board. For over 26 years Mr. Hamelin served the Board in a range of roles from Member to Coordinating Member and Acting Assistant Deputy-Chairperson. Mr. Hamelin was also responsible for the training and professional development of RPD Members in the Montreal region. He has also previously taught in the Immigration Consultants Program.
Mr. Hamelin is a graduate of McGill University Faculty of Law ( BCL 1984/LLB 1986) as well as having degrees in Political Science from Concordia University (1988) and a Graduate Diploma in College Teaching (Université de Sherbrooke 2025) . He has been a Member of the Quebec Bar since 1987.
