Andrea Snizynsky is a dedicated, bilingual lawyer with over two decades of expertise in Canadian immigration and refugee law.
After her call to the Barreau du Québec in 2003, Andrea began representing individuals as a sole practitioner in immigration and refugee law in Montreal, Québec. She appeared before all Divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board, the Federal Court as well as other provincial tribunals.
In 2010, Andrea was appointed as legal counsel to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada in Toronto, Ontario. She currently provides legal advice, support, and training to the Refugee Protection Division. As part of her current role, she serves as legal counsel to the Gender Related Task Force, supporting a commitment to the application of a trauma-informed approach and consideration of intersectionality.
Andrea obtained a Civil Law degree (LL.L) from Université d’Ottawa in 2001. She later studied Alternative Dispute Resolution at Université de Sherbrooke and Adult Education at St. Francis Xavier University. She has a profound interest in global forced migration, as context to her current practice in Canadian refugee law and continues to pursue related professional development opportunities.
