Cheryl Robinson, B.Sc., M.Sc, J.D., is a staff lawyer with the Refugee Law Office, Legal Aid Ontario and practices exclusively in Immigration and Refugee Law. Ms. Robinson regularly appears before all levels of the Immigration and Refugee Board, and the Federal Court, including as counsel for Huruglica v. Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, 2014 FC 799; 2016 FCA 93; Rozas del Solar v. Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, 2018 FC 1145 [regarding the standard of review for appeals of first instance refugee determinations] and M.A.A. v. D.E.M.E., 2020 ONCA 486 [regarding returns of children under Children’s Law Reform Act, RSO 1990, c C.12 where ongoing refugee claim]. She also regularly speaks at seminars and conferences, including the Canadian Bar Association National Immigration Law Conference, Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers National Conferences, and Law Society of Ontario Immigration Summit. She is a member of the Refugee Lawyers Association Executive, the CARL Litigation Committee and currently acts as chair of the Content Subcommittee for the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Law Moot. In 2015, Cheryl was the recipient of the Canadian Bar Association Founders’ Award for excellence in achievement by a young lawyer.
