Michael HuynhMichael is a public sector executive leader and lawyer with 14 years of experience in administrative and regulatory law. He holds Common and Civil law degrees, a Master of Science, a Bachelors of Science. He has taught administrative and regulatory law as well as presented on advocacy and professional ethics at various professional development events. Currently he works as the general counsel for an Ontario crown agency and serves as the legal representative for a research ethics board.

His understanding of immigration law is grounded in his litigation work with the Department of Justice and an immigration law firm (focusing on inadmissibility), his adjudication at the Immigration and Refugee Board (Refugee Protection Division), and his 6-year tenure as the Director of Professional Conduct at the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (overseeing the teams who assess, investigate, prosecute, and adjudicate RCIC conduct issues).

His volunteer work with organizations that provide legal, health, and professional development services to newcomers (e.g., the Chinese & Southeast Asian Legal Clinic, Access Alliance Multicultural Health & Community Services, and the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council) has helped shaped his perspective and appreciation for the critical and complex role immigration professionals play in advising and representing those who wish to live and flourish in Canada.
