Rowan FisherRowan is Managing Lawyer of the Immigration Division at Osuji & Smith Lawyers, based in Calgary with lawyers across Canada and in the Gulf. She has a BA in Psychology (Honours) with a focus in forensics, and an LLB with a concentration in energy development law, both from the University of Calgary, Canada.  Her legal studies included coursework in international trade law at the University of Hong Kong. She obtained her articles and admission to the Alberta bar in 2007 and has a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Rights Law from University College London and Queen Mary’s University, UK.

Her professional experience includes practicing energy law at Thackray Burgess in Alberta, Canada and at Hunton & Williams in London, England.  While in London, Rowan was also seconded to the Crown Estate to assist with the research of Crown property rights. In addition, she spent seven years working in Saudi Arabia, developing training programs for the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and teaching at both Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahaman and Prince Mohammad bin Fahd universities. From being recognized for her efforts at diversity, equity and inclusion by the likes of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, to continuing invitations to share her knowledge and experience at conferences, panel discussions, and roundtables across Canada, Rowan is leading her team with ambition, compassion, and grace.

Rowan is the Co-Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Executive Committee of the Alberta Immigration South section. She volunteers in the community with the Calgary Women's Immigrant Association, the Centre for Newcomers, Calgary Legal Guidance, and many other resettlement and pro bono organizations. From volunteering in legal clinics, to presenting business immigration information in person and online across Alberta, to training teams in a wide variety of immigrant facing organizations, Rowan dedicates her time, energy, and heart to advocating for those in need, ensuring access to justice, and providing immigration information across multiple industry sectors.
